In November 2022 I was diagnosed out of the blue with colon cancer and referred by my gastroenterologist to Mr Gupta for surgery to remove the tumour. He saw me very promptly and was extremely helpful in arranging my surgery at short notice, explaining all the details of the procedure and potential results. I had the operation at St Anthony's Hospital Cheam and the outcome was a success and my recovery very good, with minimal scarring and pain. Moreover Mr Gupta has agreed to monitor my ongoing health situation for the next few years, and I am very happy about this. He has a calming and reassuring bedside manner which was of great help both to myself and my husband at this stressful time. During my 6 day stay at St Anthony's I was treated with very professional friendly care by all the staff and was impressed by all aspects of their attention and care. Mr Gupta was of course overseeing all this, and attended me personally several times during my stay - frequently in the early morning or late in the evening and I do wonder when he manages to have some personal 'down-time'! I am extremely grateful to him and his team for their attention and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone in the same situation. Pauleen Morton

Mr Gupta is without exception an amazing surgeon. My surgery wasn’t straight forward and I am so glad it was Mr Gupta performing it.He explained everything to me , was kind and straightforward . From the very first contact with his secretary who went above and beyond in sorting out the appointment and the team at the hospital it was a very smooth experience. The after care was wonderful too. I highly recommend Mr Gupta to anyone .

I was diagnosed with colon cancer in Christmas 2000. I was recommended by Mr West to have a Tamis procedure which obviated the need for a colostomy bag. This was music to my ears. The procedure was done in March 2021, and my subsequent care by Mr Gupta’s team has been exemplary. I have only experienced very minor problems since the operation. When I consider the alternative, the whole Journey although daunting at the outset has been completely positive, and I am delighted with the results. Congratulations, Mr Gupta!

Thank you very much for your positive remarks and I am so pleased to learn that you are doing well and that we managed to preserve the organ (rectum) and its function without needing a major surgery or a stoma for a diagnosis of rectal cancer. For lay people - let me explain that TAMIS is Trans Anal Minimally Invasive Surgery for an early stage rectal cancer which can be removed through a key hole surgery within the rectum avoiding a resectional surgery and abdominal approach. You then needed chemoradiation after the surgery and we will continue to keep an eye for 5 years. This is not possible in every rectal cancer but early diagnosis is the key to success!
